With two years, 60 credit hours, and 700 hours of clinical experience, you'll be in the field in no time. Whether you aim to be a clinical mental health counselor, a child and family treatment therapist, a victim's advocate, or a clinical case manager, explore the program and discover your best next step.

The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree

This 60-credit program can be completed in two years, with late afternoon and evening classes designed for working professionals. In addition, online summer and winter courses are offered online.

In small cohorts of 15, students progress together as a supportive community. The curriculum explores values, cultures, techniques, and interventions for preventing and treating diverse mental health issues, preparing you to work with clients across backgrounds and developmental stages.

  • 700 hours of clinical experience, including three practicum credits.
  • 12 internship credits, meeting New York State licensure requirements.

Admission

Admission is open to those who currently hold a completed bachelor’s degree and those who will have one by the time our program begins. While any major is welcome, most of our applicants are from majors in human services, psychology, counseling, or related fields.

Applicants are required to successfully complete these prerequisite courses by the start of the program:

  • Introductory psychology
  • Introductory counseling
  • Abnormal psychology
  • Research methods
