2024 Jesuit High School Full Tuition Scholarship Application

Reflect on the following statement and question. A typed (i.e. .doc, .docx, .pdf) essay of 500-600 words must be submitted below by February 1, 2024.

Each day at Le Moyne College we strive for greatness, but always through the eyes of goodness.

Based on a Jesuit tradition that is equal parts passion and compassion, we reach for the highest level of academic excellence, and human excellence as well. We shoot for championship, but live for sportsmanship. We inspire students to think for themselves, and beyond themselves. We teach the skill of achieving success, but instill the principle of never compromising values. We prepare leaders who aspire to heroic goals, while always staying true to the Jesuit ideal of helping souls.

From professors to coaches to students to the entire campus community, we believe success and integrity don’t have to be mutually exclusive. At Le Moyne, greatness meets goodness, and one without the other simply is not an option.

As you think about becoming part of the Le Moyne Community described above, please reflect in an essay of 500-600 words how your experience at a Jesuit High School has emulated Le Moyne’s ideal of Greatness meeting Goodness and how you expect to take that experience and apply it to the betterment of the Le Moyne College community and beyond.

Provide specific examples from your personal experience. Your essay may be informal (e.g. you may speak in your own voice, use the first person, use humor or a light tone), but you should use standard, English grammar and punctuation throughout. If you happen to consult, quote, paraphrase, or summarize any outside sources in writing the essay, be sure to mark direct quotations with quotation marks and to cite your sources.
